Our mission
Our Story

Teens for Type 1 & 2 (TT12) is a youth-led nonprofit working to give children with diabetes the support they need for a healthier, brighter childhood. Through education, support, and community-driven initiatives, we strive to empower young people as they navigate life with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes.
With over 300,000 youth diabetes patients in the U.S. alone, our mission is to reach as many as possible through various programs. We offer volunteer opportunities in fundraising for treatment programs, supporting patient interactions, donating toys and books, spreading awareness, and gifting care packages. Together, we aim to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young people living with diabetes.
At the age of 14, Esabelle Palafox founded TT12, driven by her personal connection to diabetes. As a baby, Esabelle never met her vibrant grandmother, whose life was tragically cut short by the disease. Growing up, Esabelle heard stories of her grandmother’s warmth and struggle, which deeply impacted her and established significant empathy for those affected by diabetes.
Esabelle’s maternal grandmother has lived with diabetes for many years, and witnessing her strength and resilience inspired Esabelle further. To honor her late grandmother and support her living grandmother, Esabelle created a youth-led organization that provides young children with diabetes a supportive community and resources.
